supplemental questions

By providing thoughtful answers to the following questions, you will support our goal that everyone who is accepted into an AMI Teacher Training Course at Montessori Northwest completes the course successfully. Each answer should be approximately one paragraph. To avoid timing out, cut and paste responses from another document.

  • Responsibility - Montessori Northwest strives to embody Montessori principles applied to adult learning. This results in unique student experience and unique student work. One essential Montessori principle is ownership of your learning process. Please describe a situation when you took responsibility for your own learning.

  • Time Management - An AMI training course presents a demanding schedule. In addition to class time, students typically spend at least 2-3 hours nightly (including weekends) on their course work. Additionally, students are required to remain at their host Montessori schools to the end of the host school day during mandatory Observation and Practice Teaching; these hours often beyond MNW class time. A longer commute and duration in the host classroom necessitates students adjust their schedule. Please describe the strategies you have used to be successful with a demanding schedule.

  • Use of Technology - Student life at MNW incorporates use of technology. In terms of communication, this means regularly receiving important information by email, accessing documents (downloading and printing) from our college management software. The majority of the work a student compiles involves word processing and creating illustrations. Students utilize several illustration options, which may include inserting photographs, making computer illustrations, or sketching/drawing by hand. Describe your level of comfort with the following technology:

    • Office Word/Apple Pages/Google Docs: Formatting documents with a professional appearance, inserting illustrations

    • Google Drive: Uploading/downloading documents, this program can also be used for word processing.

    • Document Storage: Either cloud or external hard drive for backup, organization for digital files and documents.

    • Facebook: Etiquette for a professional organization
